ASN Engineering Care

What does it mean?

Engineering Care is the on-demand availability of our engineering team for technical responses that cannot be planned in advance.

It’s there for situations you can’t control — such as new OS versions (iOS, Android, Windows, etc.), component shortages, new legislation, or customer requests for function changes or feature enhancements.

Benefits

  • Unexpected requests always come at the worst possible time. Production, operations, and customers generate changes that simply cannot be scheduled in advance.

  • Without free capacity, there’s no one to call. When your entire team is busy with ongoing development, even a small request can become a serious problem.

  • More cost-effective than a full-time employee, while giving you access to the expertise of 20 specialists across various technical domains.

Examples of Typical Requests:

Customer Engineering

  • Software updates in response to external changes (e.g., new OS versions, libraries, or frameworks)

  • Development and innovation of cloud services – adapting systems to new APIs or cloud platform features

  • Product evolution and innovation based on operational feedback

  • Implementation of change requests (e.g., function updates, configuration changes, parameter adjustments)

  • Technical support during installation, implementation, or commissioning

  • Specific technical inquiries or user requests

Example from practice:

“A customer needed their device to communicate with a new ERP system. Within three days, we modified the API and added authentication according to the specific requirements.”

Manufacturing Engineering

  • Designing replacements for unavailable or discontinued chips (EOL, NRND)

  • Redesigning for new, cheaper, or higher-performance chips in large-scale production

  • Suggesting alternative components and validating compatibility

  • Redesigns due to component unavailability

  • Product re-certification after component or supplier changes

  • Cooperation with manufacturing technology teams

  • Design modifications to meet new customer requirements (e.g., connector type, dimensions, mounting interface)

  • Adaptations to comply with new legislation or standards (CE, EMC, RoHS, RED)

  • Development, maintenance, and servicing of testing tools and software

Example from practice:

“A manufacturer needed to replace a component that became unavailable. We performed a PCB redesign and firmware update — without halting production.”
